Japan runs on coffee. The modern obsession with coffee in Japan really began in 1965 when Mira Coffee released the first canned coffee. These fitted effortlessly into Japans already popular vending machines, where the busy salary man might stop and buy a ¥100 pick-me-up in the form of a Boss Coffee. I felt that coffee cans were an excellent representation of Japanese culture.
